JUSTICE AND PEACE MEETING…ST. STANS   JANUARY 2006

Present:  Jim Gebhard, Mark Molski, Jane Jansch, Mary Ann Krems
Excused: Sandy Starr, (South), Ferriters, (Sick), Gwidts: (Baby), Robin Tanke: Recovering from illness.

Jim opened with prayer.
Minutes approved as read.

Food Collection: Mary Ann reported an extremely generous donation by parish to Family Crisis Center. It
filled the whole car and trunk.  Some people are donating cash. Decision was made to use it to buy gift
cards for families.

House of Peace Meals:  Jim reported there is always a need.  Mary Ann mentioned that the Youth Group is
planning to do one. We will consider one in April.  Jim will post a request in the bulletin for families or
groups to consider.

Mary Ann reported that Corporate Responsibility is addressing the environmental concern of bottled water.
She handed out brochures.  No action taken.

Budget was revisited. Committee miscalculated so group decided to delete $50.00 from gift cards budget
so our donations will remain at $4160.00. Donations will be distributed at various times during the year.

Other Business:  Jim shared concern about leadership roles for the future. With health concerns, he is
willing to share chairing the meetings.  Discussion continued on collaborating with other parishes.  (Note:
Mary Ann has talked with Leo Jacoby who believes that would be a great idea for St. Joe’s and St. Stan’s to
meet and collaborate.  Mary Ann has called Cheryl Kizewski about the issue and a letter inviting them to
our meeting in Feb. will be sent.)  The goal of collaboration would be to coordinate and list service projects,
seek presentations on Justice and Peace issues and provide an educational component.

Mary Ann shared a document sent to her by Elio Pascutti of St. Bron’s.  MAKING WISCONSIN WORK
WELL, A Labor Day Challenge by WI Roman Catholic Bishops in Sept. of 2001.  All the bishops in WI
approved it but none of the members present had heard of it.  It could be a possibility for study by Justice
and Peace Committees?

The donation yearly made by the J&P committee in honor of Br. James Miller will be sent directly to the
Christian Brothers Mission in Br. Miller’s name.  Mary Ann will obtain address.

Mary Ann expressed appreciation to Gwidts for putting the Ocean Springs project on the J&P bulletin
board. The Community Planning Council is coordinating the effort. More will be sent to the bulletin.
Meeting closed with a prayer by Mary Ann received on a Christmas card.

Next meeting is Feb. 13 at 7:00.   Respectfully submitted:  Mary Ann Krems
