The afternoon began with a prayer service given by Fr. Dan Crosby. He followed this with a talk on What is Church? Fr. Dan answered questions after his talk.
Fr. George welcomed everyone and talked about making St. Stans a welcoming and vibrant community.
Nancy Chinn-O’Reilly was elected Vice Chair and Shirley Berger was elected Secretary of the Pastoral Council for the coming year (2009-2010).
Fr. George and Bob Rogers reported on the activities of the Staff Recruitment Ad Hoc Committee. The search for a Director of Religious Education successfully concluded with Debra Spang accepting the offer to fill the position. The committee will now work on conducting a search for a Pastoral Minister.
The group broke into three groups based on ministry areas (Sacred Worship, Catholic Education-Family Life- Justice and Peace, and Stewardship) to discuss, within each group, pastoral needs that should be addressed in the coming year. The groups then reconvened and shared their thoughts with the other groups. Subsequently, the pastoral needs identified by all groups were compiled into a needs assessment report to be used to guide the work of the parish leadership in the coming year.
The retreat ended with a light dinner meal.
