Finance Council Meeting Minutes

Sept. 13, 2011 - 4:00 pm - Rectory

 

Council Members Present:  Fr. George, Rita Borski, Bill Boylan, John Clifford, Bob Hollar, Brian Kozlowski, John Krupka, Tom Mrozinski, Marg Ostrowski and Beverly Wasieleski-Financial Secretary.

1. Opening Prayer – Bill Boylan

2.  Introduction of New Finance Member

     *Brian Kozlowski has accepted a position on the Finance Council responsible for Memorials.

3. Minutes of Finance Council Meeting Aug. 23, 2011 approved as presented.

4. Liaison Reports-Email Report to Council Members

    a. Pastoral Council – No report, meeting tonight at 7:00p.m.       

    b. Staff – Dwaine Habrat

        *Staff retreat held Sept. 7 at River Pines House.  Activities included Mass, roundtable/calendar

          discussion, a presentation by Deb Spang on her trip to Spain, potluck lunch and a message from

          Fr. George.

    c. SPACS Commission – No report, next meeting Sept. 15, 2011       

    d. SPACS Finance – John Clifford, No report       

5. Sub-Committee Reports –Email Report to Council Members

    a. Financial Report/Budget – John Clifford

        *September newsletter going out in mail on Sept. 14, will include information from Bishop’s

          Report and fiscal year end report.

        *Thru 8/31/11, our financial position shows expense is $6,000 greater than income. 

        *The parish received a Memorial gift of $200,000, which has been deposited into Memorial

           Savings account.

        *Will review at next month’s meeting the idea of Scrip being managed at the parish for us

           to increase profit sharing.         

    b. Building & Grounds – Bob Hollar

        *Two main projects that have been completed recently are tuck pointing stone foundation

           on south side of church by Don Dulak, and parking lot repair by Fahrner.

        *Rectory window washing scheduled for Sept. 12.

    c. Memorials – Brian Kozlowski

    d. Diocesan Annual Appeal – Bill Boylan

        *Our parish target for the 2011/2012 Appeal will be $74,179.  This represents an increase of

          $991 over last year.

         *A total of 11.5% of our target goal was returned to the parish as a $300 BEET grant for Faith

           Formation dinners and $8,000 for school aid.

        *Discussed timetable for this year’s Appeal for mailing, showing video, and Amen Sunday.

    e. Fundraising – Marg Ostrowski, Tom Mrozinski, John Krupka

        *Scheduled the following:  Oct. 16, Nov. 20, Dec. 18, and Jan. 15, 2012 for breakfasts.

          Serving time is from 8:30 to 11:30a.m.  

        *Winter Carnival set for Feb. 19, 2012.  First meeting to be held on Oct. 25 with committee

           chairs for the event.  Still looking to recruit new Chairperson.                 

  6. Fr. George’s Remarks

      *Thank you letter to those who participated in June Cash Crusade to go out Sept. 14.

      *Jim Dyer to speak at next Finance Council meeting.
