JUSTICE AND PEACE MINUTES NOVEMBER 9 MEETING

ST. STAN’S PARISH

Call to Order: Becky Lee called the meeting to order at 6:30

Prayer: Mary Ann: A Penitential Litany on justice issues from United State Conference of Catholic Bishops. Prayers were also included for Deacon Don Borski.

Present: Dennis and Marcy Ferriter, Beth Mortensen, Rebecca Lee and Mary Ann Krems

Excused: Karen Clifford.

CHRISTMAS DINNER UPDATE: Becky and Mary Ann reported that plans are going well. Karen will obtain the food when she returns on Dec. 6. Peoples Market and East Side COPPS will help us obtain the meat. COPPS will also donate the coleslaw. A case of green beans has been donated as well. Becky and Chris Doubek will chair the food preparation, Fletcher Family will set up the Dining Room, and Becky, Chris, Krems’, and Fletchers will work on food preparation on Christmas Eve morning. Becky and Chris will arrange a worksheet of duties to be done and request parish help for an hour or so or specific donations of food like cookies and bars.

October Minutes: Approved with clarification that Church has purchased dinner dishes including around 100 cups to replace the green cups that were sold. So using non paper cups will be available. Cleaning them will require putting them through the dish washer.

Food Collections: Mary Ann reported that Catholic Charities has sent a thank you so appreciative of the products donated in September and shared with HIV/AIDS Ministry, House of Peace and Catholic Charities. Ferriters reported an overflow of donations for the Family Crisis Center. A thank you will be given to the parish the week-end of Nov. 14/15.

Mission Collection: Beth is coordinating it for the Sister City Nicaragua Project and will be soliciting backpacks and school supplies. Marilyn Slusarski is helping coordinate this project. A fact sheet for the bulletin and an explanation will be given at the Masses on Nov. 14/15

Meal at Salvation Army: Becky reported several dates that are open and Dec. 15 was selected. Becky will check on numbers to prepare for and time. She will also solicit parish help to provide the food for our meals served.

Deanery Justice and Peace: Laura Hanneman of St. Bronislava’s will seek a time that Christopher Ruff can come and present his power point on justice and charity issues in the diocese. A date will be forwarded later.

Budget Updates: Bev requested addresses for the charities chosen by Justice and Peace and an updated budget sheet was shared.

Church Bulletin Board: Suggestion was made and consensus arrived that as we rotate chairs of the Justice and Peace meetings, the person for each month will post the new updates to the board. Becky will do it for this month. Materials received from our charities will be posted in the mailbox of the chair for each month.
