JUSTICE AND PEACE MINUTES February 2, 2010

ST. STAN’S PARISH

Call to Order: Mary Ann

Prayer: Joint prayer was shared on the Penetential Liturgy of the Catholic Conference of Bishops

Present: Becky Lee, Beth Mortensen, Mary Ann Krems

January minutes were approved as read.

Old Business: None

New Business:

1. Budget Realignment: The collections for the four missions determined by the Justice and Peace Committee will be deferred at the present time due to financial challenges for the parish. The money from Thanksgiving and the Food Cards originally budgeted have been allotted to funding in cash for the missions. Motion was made by Beth and Seconded by Becky to donate the total of $888.00 to the Nicaragua Project, Sr. Catherine’s Mission in Peru, Miguel’s mission in Peru and the Working Boys Center in Quito Ecuador. The four missions will each receive $400.00 and committee agreed to donate $100.00 to the St. Bron’s Mission Trip for the cost of suitcases to deliver goods. A Revised budget with addresses will be shared with Beverly at the rectory. It is hoped that mission collections will occur in future time so parish will feel connected.

2. Joint Mission Meeting: Event will be in April and group is looking at asking Fr. Tom Lindner to share the story of Guatemala and are looking for information to share on Br. James Miller. Newman will be asked to host the event. Details will be more final at March meeting.

3. Meal at Place of Peace: Becky will gather information for March meeting.

4. Events for rest of year include: Food Collections monthly, Place of Peace Meal, Personal Care Shower in May.

5. A thank you was received from First Choice for the baby supplies donated at Christmas by the Parish. The thank you has been put in the bulletin.
