JUSTICE AND PEACE MINUTES    March 1, 2010

                                                ST. STAN’S PARISH

 

Call to Order:  Karen Clifford

Prayer:  Joint prayer was shared on the Penitential Liturgy of the Catholic Conference of Bishops

 

Present:, Beth Mortensen, Karen Clifford, Marilyn Slusarski,  Mary Ann Krems

Excused: Ferriters, Becky Lee.   Marilyn announced that Pat Boylan will rejoin Justice and Peace and is willing to serve as secretary.  Marilyn will forward email to Mary Ann

 

Feb.  minutes were approved as read.

 

Old Business:   4 Mission Projects designated by the committee have had letters sent with a check. They include the Nicaragua Sister City Project, Sr. Catherine Kielizewski Peru Mission, Miguel’s Peru Mission and Sister Luann Brown and Sister Saskia of the Working Boys Center in Quito Ecuador.   A $100.00 check was sent to St. Brons to assist with the baggage costs on their upcoming trip to Peru and Casa Hogar.  Mary Ann will send a notice to the Bulletin sharing information on the mission when a thank you is received.

 

New Business:

                1. Ferriters will coordinate March Food Collection for Mobile Pantry. Mobile Pantry was a recent recipient of a grant from the Packers Foundation and Marcy Ferriter attended a meeting in Green Bay to receive it.

 

                2. Joint Mission Meeting:   Scheduled for Thursday May 6 at Newman. Fr. Tom Lindner will present on “A Faith Journey to Guatemala, “and remembrances of Br. James Miller who served there will be shared.

                3. Meal at Place of Peace: Becky will gather information for April meeting.

 

                4. Events for rest of year include:  To be completed are: Food Collections monthly, Place of Peace Meal, and Personal Care Shower in May.  A member of committee is asked to coordinate the Personal Care Shower. Group approved adding a group of young mothers at risk served at Health and Human Services.  Karen Clifford will coordinate for them. The collection will be the weeks of May 9&16.

 

               

Next Meeting:  Wednesday, April 7 at 6:30     Chair: Marcy Ferriter, Prayer: Marilyn Slusarski

April Food  Collection:  Salvation Army:  Becky Lee will coordinater.

Please Note: Final meeting will be Wednesday May 5.  Plans will be made for an end of the year gathering.  Karen is going to host.
