- Family Life – no discussion
- Justice and Peace – no discussion
- Sacred Worship – no discussion
6. Finance Council Report (Fr. Al, Gene
LaRose, Dick Lepak)
Fr. Al led the report and discussion related to the finances of the parish.
· New sinks were installed in School which were partially paid for by SPACS
· School rooms painted by parents that volunteered their time. Goal is to repaint all rooms a few rooms at a time during the summer months using volunteer parents
· Youth group has started working on the murals in the school
· Major work was done or is planned at the Rectory
® Outside steam cleaned
® Fixtures repainted
® Masonry will be repaired
® New tile floor installed in the rectory
® Front doors will be replaced and are on order
® Floors in other areas will be evaluated for refinishing or tiling
· Parish will be in the black this fiscal year because we received $20,000 back from the Diocesan Appeal and SPACS returned over $50,000 to the parish.
· Concern that Parish giving is down by $70,000 and that parishioners are reducing their weekly giving to support other appeals
® Need to re-evaluate our stewardship program
® Information will be presented in the Newsletter
· SPACS will reduce their financial obligation from St. Stans by 3% each year for three years.
· 30/30 will net about $5500. Not all tickets sold. However,
the event builds community and is a good social
event
· The public school system has contracted with SPACS to provide a 4 year old kindergarten program. St. Stans is one of the sites
and we have four classes. The contract provides adequate funding to support the program without the
need for additional parish funds to be used.
· School enrollment at St. Stans has increased with enough students to have another 1st grade, according to Greg Hansel.
· Asbestos will be removed from School building starting two days after the end of the school year.
· Bob Brant resigned from Finance Council. Mike Liebe was appointed to fill Bob’s place.
· Finance Council appointments are to be reviewed.
· Finance Council meets on

9. Council Chair Report/Announcements – Bob Rogers
® Faith Alive faith-sharing program sponsored by the La Crosse Diocese will begin in parishes this fall. Announcement of the program will be included in the bulletin
with opportunities of people to sign up. Christopher Ruff, Director of the Office of Ministries and Social Concerns, is finishing writing
the resource booklet that will be used in this cycle sessions which will run monthly from October to May. Bill Boylan is
helping to coordinate this. Mary Ann Powell is also involved with this effort.
® Catholics Coming Home program is holding a planning session meeting at the Deanery Office (St. Stephen’s Convent) on August 28 at 7pm. Will consider a program
centered in the rural areas.
® Summary of Pastoral Council Minutes – format and distribution. Council was divided on whether to include a summary of minutes in the Bulletin with those in favor
having a slight edge. Bob Rogers suggested that we try an insert provided that it would be logistically feasible (check with Parish secretary). Those not in favor were
willing to give it a try even though they doubted it would be worth the effort because, in their opinion, few people would be
interested in reading the minutes. The alternative was to have copies at the entrances to church for people to pick up. This
will be looked at as well.
