Pastoral Council
members, Parish Staff, and representatives of the Finance Council met at St.
Anthony Retreat Center in Marathon on Sunday afternoon, August 26, 2007

Fr. Marty Pable gave the
opening and closing prayer service and presented a short program about the
qualities of servant leaders in the context of Parish ministry
·
Fr. Al reported
o
that major work has been
done or is planned for the rectory including steam cleaning outside, masonry
repair, flooring, front doors, fixtures, and other needed repairs or updates
o
Parish finances will be
in the black this fiscal year and that detail will be in the next issue of the
newsletter
o
New sinks installed in
school and rooms painted by parent volunteers during the summer and program
will continue in successive summers.
o
Youth group has started
painting murals in the school
o
Stevens Point school
system has contracted with SPACS to over a 4 yr-old kindergarten program at St.
Stans and that enrollment at St. Stans has increased this year
o
He is very happy with
the parish staff and that their major goals include youth programming,
evangelization, and stewardship

Dave Fletcher reported
that the current newsletter is ready to be distributed and that the parish is
now working with new software that improves data management
·
Mary Pionkowski, Music
Minister reports
o
an increase in music
ministry members, especially those of high school and college age, and welcomes
more
o
asks for patience,
understanding, and encouragement as young people gain experience in their
ministry
o
it might be helpful to
invite parish members to consider the music and other ministries at least twice
a year, instead of only once
o
that Paul Inwood will be
the featured presenter at a music ministry workshop in Wisconsin Rapids:
Registration deadline is September 28th.

JoAnn Liss, Faith Formation
Coordinator reported
o
That a training session
will occur in mid-September on a mandatory diocesan program called a Safe
Environment directed at all persons working with youth in our parish
o
Of the need for parents
to oversee the drop-off and pick up of youth attending Wednesday programs
o
That All Hallows Eve
will be celebrated at 5:15pm Mass

Kathy Weisbrod
Coordinator of Youth Education reported that
o
the calendar of youth
activities will be out shortly
o
Participation in youth
activities is steadily increasing
o
Pacelli students are
available to help with service projects and to contact her about needs
o
A camping activity is
being planned for Eagle Cave in Richland Center
o
We should consider that
the RCIA program be conducted year-around and perhaps be a tri-parish effort

Bob Rogers Council Chair
report that Faith Alive program will start this fall and that the next
Catholics Coming Home Deanery program is currently being planned
·

Linda Stroik reported
that plans for the Parish Renewal program are progressing on schedule and that
brochure and other renewal materials are being finalized. The Ministry Fair will be held on October
27-28th.

Items to be addressed at
the September 25th meeting (7pm, Rectory) are communication exchange
between Finance and Pastoral Council, an update on the Parish Stewardship
program, and the setting of Parish Goals for 2007-2008
