St. Stanislaus Social Justice Committee
Minutes of Meeting
The Committee met at the rectory. Karen Clifford chaired the meeting. Present were Beth Mortensen, Deanna Van Grinsven, Karen Clifford, Mary Ann Krems, Dennis Ferriter, Shelly Korger, Mary Ann Powell, Avis Pings, Patricia Boylan. Joining us were Father George and Dwayne Habrat. Marcy Ferriter was excused.
Deanna Van Grinsven led the prayer.
OLD BUSINESS:
2 Updates.
a. Right to life. Mary Ann Powell reported that special attention to Our Lady of Guadalope is being emphasized by highlighting her on the Right to Life bulletin board with accompanying little booklets. Shelly Korger announced that she will be participating in the annual march on the last weekend in January and encouraged other members to join her.
b. Social Concerns: Mary Ann Krems is contacting Christopher Ruff of the Diocese and such information should be forthcoming.

d. Bulletin Board: Deanna continues to try to recruit volunteers for activities and projects most currently, the Christmas dinner. See 2. a. for Right to Life bulletin board.
e. Food collection: A generous bounty on Thanksgiving was taken
to the
f. Good Samaritan Project at SPASH: Karen Clifford reported that $60 to $80 are spent each week. Mary Ellen Self recently delivered to SPASH and was met by 40 hungry students who expressed appreciation and gratitude
g. Meals at House of Peace and Salvation Army: Deanna will be setting up a time for the committee to prepare and serve a meal hopefully in January at one of these places
3 . Budget updates: A donation to our local Adult Day Care has been added.
4. Christmas Dinner: Mary Ann Krems that plans are taking shape for the dinner. The Wachowiaks , Mark and Josh, Chris Dobeck, Marilyn Slusarski, and Deanna will be working in the kitchen on the 24th. Jim Krems, Marian Scheider, Mary Ann Powell, and Julie Olsen will be setting up the room. Other volunteers will be assigned to specific tasks as time goes on. Committee members will be stationed at each entrance after the December 10/11 masses to recruit more volunteers.
Regrettably this was Mary Ann Krems’ last meeting. She has served on this committee for at least the past decade and for a great part of that time, presided as chair. He ability, knowledge and wide-range of resources has been invaluable as well as her patience and tact. Thank you Mary Ann and God Bless!!! Not surprisingly, there were no hands waving in the air to volunteer to take her place as it would be a challenge of a lifetime to fill THOSE proverbally big shoes.
